You can't lead unless you bleed
The wait and see approach may have worked in the past, but will not work in the future.

The Wait and See Approach. It won’t come as any surprise to hear that technology is changing faster than ever, at an increasingly rapid place.

And yet, it’s still fairly common for a business to look at investing in information technology with a view that says, “Let some others try it, get all the problems fixed, then we’ll jump in. We may have missed a few months, even a year, but that won’t impact the business in a strategic way. Better to let someone else take the risk”.

Being on the Forefront. We argue that enterprises have to get on the bleeding edge. At least a little. If they don’t, they run the substantial danger of somebody getting the jump-start that may leave them in the dust, struggling to see their way.

The wait and see approach may have worked in the past, but will not work in the future. Sure, enterprises will make some mistakes by being on the forefront, but at far less cost than being left behind.

Laying a Path to the Future. The Itera Consulting Group’s message to company leaders for years have been: "Don’t worry about the technology, focus on how you basically do things differently and better. The technology will be there, and our expertise will help you find the right solution and optimal timing to invest".

Being on the bleeding edge of technology means leading instead of following, taking risks instead of playing it safe, finding the newest technology and applying it to your own business needs before your competitors do. It means laying a path to the future in more than one sense.

The Itera Consulting Group has strong experience in advising clients in examining emerging solutions for competitive advantage. We recommend our clients to assess the relative impact of a technology and act early for high-impact technologies, no matter what their normal level of technology aggression, while waiting for others to move first on technologies that are less relevant to the core of their business.
